Our tank has been sitting of a few weeks to get the right amount of density of salt for the tank, so we can have a safe environment for our fish. We haven't gotten any of our fish yet, due to the fact that we must make sure that nothing involving the salt in the tank goes wrong. But we have been looking at a few types of fish that can go in the same tank together. A few of these fish are Clownfish, Blue Tang, Firefish, a few different types of gobies, Blue/ Green Reef Chormises, maybe one Brittle starfish, and two tiny Hermit crabs or Shrimp to clean the tank. They are all beginners fish besides the Clownfish. The Clownfish will be the hardest fish to take care of considering that we would need to buy a sea anemone for the Clownfish as well. But everything else in the tank should be good.
The difference between male & female:
Clownfish are all male at birth and the most dominate male Clownfish turns female. The female is usually the largest Clownfish and there is no other way to tell Clownfish apart really because in a group of males there is on female who is dominate over the males. Breeding conditions: Clean environment in a saltwater reef tank, good water conditions. Females lay eggs in a safe area.
Blue Tang fish are very hard to determine the difference between males and females, it's almost impossible until breeding. Breeding conditions: Clean saltwater environment, mostly a clean reef environment.
Firefish are also hard to determine the difference between but the dorsal fin length might be a determining factor. Breeding conditions: Warm clean water, saltwater reef with few predators.
Gobies only determining factors are their behavior towards one another. If they begin to have aggressive behavior you have two male. If they are calm they are either male and female or female and female. Breeding conditions: Warm reef saltwater with plenty of small areas to hide eggs in.
Blue/ Green Reef Chormis fish are difficult to determine the difference between male and female. Breeding conditions: sometimes bred in saltwater reef tanks. Need a small school and good water conditions. Get them ready by giving them live food. Males should build a nest in the sand and court various females. The male will then watch the eggs until they hatch a few days later.
